NVSF New Plays Series
NVSF New Play Series fosters the creation of original plays in collaboration with emerging and established playwrights. The productions involve an afternoon engagement where we do an informal reading of the new work followed by a brief wine reception, allowing audience, cast and playwright to converse. Promising scripts are given additional rehearsal and workshops. When the collaborative process yields a fully realized script, the play may be chosen to receive a full production with NVSF. Through commissions and submissions the NVSF goal is to bring world premiere plays to our community and region!

Happy Landings!
by Pam Monk
Follow the misadventures of deadly serious Floyd Tucker who takes desperate measures to become recognized as a Writer. In the meantime , he makes his living putting happy endings on sad works of art. If you ever spent two seconds wishing that Romeo was just faking his death, darn it, or that Roxanne, if she was as bright as all that, would have figured out by intermission that it was Cyrano , then Happy Landings is the play for you.

Arthur and Merlin
by Jerry Sawyer
Merlin is getting old. He and Nimue are the last of the great sorcerers, and Merlin hankers for a taste of humanity. He is only half human, and a missing element in his life is the emotion and human frailty he has witnessed over the centuries. He gives in to that sentimentality and devises a spell that makes him grow backward and be re-born as fully human.
Arthur is his last attempt to overcome evil in the world, and as Arthur grows into his place in history, Merlin seeks only the comfort of a normal human existence.
In this final work of my musical trilogy on the theme of father & sons, Merlin is cast as a surrogate father and mentor to Arthur. So in a story that draws from the traditional Arthurian legend, we also find this new twist that allows us to raise new questions about the father/son relationship.
